URSZULA DUDZIAK
Urszula Dudziak world known jazz vocalist. Amazing voice scale, perfection of intonation, original vocal technique and also pioneer achievement of usage of modern musical technology, let her gain opinion of an original and creative artist. When she was a child, she started to learn play the piano, she has started to sing when she was in high school, when she was amazed by the voice of Ella Fitzgerald. She has began her career in the sixties in Krzysztof Komeda band, she has also performed and recorded with Edward Czerny orchestra. At first she was performing jazz standards, but after cooperation with Michał Urbaniak (later her husband) she has changed her style of singing. She uses her voice as it is another musical instrument, which comes from classical and common known in jazz music technique called “scat”. Thanks to that she has become one of the most popular and original character of polish jazz. Her album “Newborn Light”, recorded with Adam Makowicz in 1973 is a specific kind of dictionary of musical language of Urszula Dudziak. In 1973 together with Michał Urbaniak she went to live in New York, but now she lives in Warsaw. She has performed and recorded with such known artists like Bobby McFerrin, Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius, Ron Carter, Michael Brecker, Flora Purim, Nina Simone, Carmen McRae, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sting or Lionel Hampton. She has performed in almost every country of Europe, Asia and both Americas, and also in most famous New York Carnegie Hall and during Newport Jazz Festival. She has cooperated with a lot of jazz bands, such as: Vocal Summit, Vienna Art Orchestra, Gil Evans Orchestra and Archie Sheep band. In 1972 prestige American magaine „Down Beat” gave her album „Newborn Light” the maximum score of five stars and in 1979 „Los Angeles Times” nominated her as a Singer of the year. She has recorded nearly 50 albums and the most important are: “Newborn Light” (1972), “Fusion” (1974), “Atma” (1975), “Midnight Train” (1977), “Vocal Summit” (1982), “Magic Lady” (1990), “Painted Bird” (1997), “The Best of Urszula Dudziak” (2001) and “Urszula Dudziak Superband Live At Jazz Cafe” (2009). In her artistic career she has also performed in musicals and also made recordings to movie soundtracks. Urszula Dudziak is often extending her music by putting into it a folk and classic music.

ERIC MARIENTHAL

one of the most recognizable jazz sahophonist was born in 1957 in Sacramento in California. When he was 10 he dreamt to be a musician and give performances all over the world. This The dream came true, he has gave performances in over sixty cities all over the word and recorded 10 CD albums.
He studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass with the legendary saxophone professor, Joe Viola. Eric started his professional career in 1980 with famed New Orleans trumpeter Al Hirt. After returning to Los Angeles Eric became a member of the Chick Corea Elektric Band. He recorded 6 CD’s with Chick Corea band and won 2 Grammy Awards. Eric went on to perform with artists such as Elton John, Barbara Streisand, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Burt Bacharach, Aaron Neville, Johnny Mathis, Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, George Duke, David Benoit, The Rippingtons, The Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band, Patti Austin, Lou Rawls, David Lee Roth, The Yellowjackets, B.B. King, Ramsey Louis, Patti Labelle, Olivia Newton-John, and many others.
