A Day Is Not Enough – exhibition

A Day Is Not Enough (a few autobiographical stories)- MAD spetial edition

The exhibition is dedicated to autobiographical relations in recent Polish art. The invited artists tell stories from real life with the narrative in the first person. They present themselves and events that would happen to them.

The theme of the exhibition is the tension between the figure and the image of the author in their works, between the fiction and the truth of a performance.  We learn about dilemmas connected with writing a diary.  How to note everything? What to choose from incidents happening in our lives? How to live and simultaneously comment on your life? Another topic is the history reflected in personal and chronicle notes from everyday life. The disappointment of critics, expecting big epic works describing the times of great change in Poland after1989, turns out to be unfounded as those times have been reflected in personal relationships, not always focusing on history but covering it indirectly.
