Blues All Souls’ Day

Blues All Souls’ Day was organized for the first time in November 1983. It was dedicated to the memory of founder of the oldest blues festival in Poland (Autumn with the Blues in Bialystok), the leader of Kasa Chorych band – Ryszard “Skiba” Skibiński. All the great blues musicians said goodbye to him in this farewell event. Since that time the event is held periodically and is very popular among the audience. During All Souls’ Days we had the opportunity to host in Bialystok the biggest names in the blues world from Poland and abroad.

November 4th, 2017, 7 PM

tickets: 40 PLN (presale), 50 PLN (on the day of the event)

This year’s participants include:

Cynamonowa Kaczka

As they say, they were gathered by their love of music and performing it professionally. They want to change the habits of the Polish audience to small, “cost-effective” blues bands. Large, ten-person, band gives them tremendous interpretative and arranging opportunities. It was supposed to be a one-off project in memory of the late Jurek Opalinski, but the pressure of the public made the musicians keep meeting and start working on their first album.

The Rhythm Chiefs

The Rhythm Chiefs are often referred to as the youngest blues band in The Netherlands. Founded in 2003 and now with an average age of only 17, there is no doubt though that The Rhythm Chiefs are very skillful players, leaving many musicians twice their age green with envy. They may well be the most talented young roots act in the Benelux countries or even further.

Musically it’s not strictly the blues anymore either as they tend to blend in some country, bluegrass, rock ‘n roll, rockabilly, as well as hints of jazz and funk. Both guitar player and vocalist, Dusty, and bass player Danny, are at college studying music/production, while drummer Rafael started studying at the Rotterdam Conservatorium in September 2007.

Eye-catcher of the band is Dusty Ciggaar, who fronts the band. He entered the prestigious SENA Guitar Awards at the age of 14 and… was voted the overall winner of ALL age categories. He has also regularly appeared on Dutch national TV, in shows such as “Villa Life” and on Jetix, and has been featured as an upcoming talent in the Dutch lifestyle magazine “Living”.
