Bonita & The Blues Shacks
With their base in Germany, B. B. & The Blues Shacks have for more than two decades performed their unique blend of blues and soul throughout  Europe. Starting out as a combo devoted to the 1940s and 50s blues and R&B, the popular band matured into one of Europe’s leading contemporary blues and soul bands. This band with tons of style and taste deliver concerts based on an eclectic mix of original songs and well-chosen classics based on the legacy of the African American music in its heyday from the mid-fifties to the late 1960s. This is vintage music in its purest form.

Their latest project, which includes soul singer Bonita, has taken off. From a brief guest appearance on B.B. & The Blues Shacks recording “Come Along” from 2012 the collaboration has triumphitally gathered praise at festivals and concert venues across Europe resulting  in the recording of BONITA & The Blues Shacks.

The female singer from South Africa complements singer Michael Arlt and the other band members perfectly. Bonita Niessen’s singing style is perfect for soulful blues and soul music in the tradition of Ann Peebles, Aretha Franklin, Ruth Brown and Barbara Lynn.

The band received numerous awards, including the “German Blues Award” and the title of the “European Best Blues Band” granted by French music publishers. Their album “Unique Taste” received a prize from German critics.

Nick Schnebelen
Nick Schnebelen has built a reputation as a guitar player and a founding member of the award winning family band Trampled Under Foot (TUF), which he started with his sister Danielle, and brother Chris. Nick has travelled the world playing at festivals, such as Notodden, Montreal, and the Legendary Blues Cruise. Today Nick performs with his own band, as does his sister Daniele, and brother Chris. The siblings still perform a few re-union shows as Trampled Under Foot.

In 2008 Nick won The Albert King Award for “Best Guitarist” at the International Blues Competition in Memphis. In 2014 he and his band also received the Best Contemporary Blues Album award. Recently, Nick worked on a solo album, that is currently being promoted.

Trudy Lynn

Trudy Lynn, 68, was born Lee Audrey Nelms in Houston, Texas. In addition to her parents’ 78s, she had a lot of casual contact with blues and R&B performers because her mother ran a beauty shop by the Club Matinee. Lynn would walk there from school trying to catch a glimpse of acts like Joe Hinton or Bobby “Blue” Bland, who would play the venue. She sang in a vocal ensemble at Wheatley High School. Her first break came as a teen when late blues great Albert Collins – playing with Big Tiny and the Thunderbirds – invited her onto the bandstand at Walter’s Lounge club.

After high school, Lynn went to visit her aunt in Lufkin, where a club called the Cinderella needed a singer. She decided Lee Audrey Nelms wasn’t going to cut it as a stage name. “Lynn was something in those days,” she says. “Gloria Lynne, Barbara Lynn. I thought, ‘I’m going to be one of those Lynns, too, baby.’ ” Her repertoire was limited but Lynn set about expanding her song book. The great guitarist I.J. Gosey took notice and recommended Lynn to Clarence Green, a blues guitarist and bandleader. Lynn spent five years as vocalist in his band. Green was a stern mentor, but Lynn credits him with helping her become a professional.

She made a fine single “What a Waste/Long Live the Blues” in the early ’70s. For years she struggled to get recorded in a manner deserving of her talent. Ichiban Records provided the best platform for Lynn to that point. Lynn’s time at Ichiban saw here perform at major festivals around the globe and likely peaked in 1993 with “I’ll Run Your Hurt Away”. While at Ichiban, producers had a strong hand in directing her recordings. Since joining forces with harmonica wizard Steve Krase and the Connor Ray Music label in 2014 Lynn has played curator for herself. She has been writing her own songs that blend nicely with the vintage songs. The songs are mostly about good times and bad men.

Harmonica master Steve Krase (born in Brooklyn, New York) is recognized as a blues dynamo on the Houston music scene, thanks to his legendary live performances and his work on the Connor Ray Music record label, where he’s released four of his own albums.

The Özdemirs
The family trio: Erkan Özdemir, an active member of the European blues scene for over 30 years, and his two sons – Kenan Özdemir that sings and plays the guitar, and the drummer Levent Özdemir. The youthful enthusiasm and energy of sons in combination with father’s routine and peace of mind guarantee pleasure and entertainment during concerts.
