“The Ice Road” is a story about the winter Ladak Himalayas. About the Ice Road that leads along the frozen Zanskar River and connects Ladak with the Zanskar Valley. The Ice Road is an old trade route that is only used in winter when the five thousandth mountain passes separating the Indus Valley from the Zanskar Valley are covered in snow.
