The director’s biography, written for four actors and a pianist, becomes a pretext to redefine the existing concepts and create their own queer fantasy system. The performance, in which Nijinsky’s Afternoon of the Faun comes to life in the men’s dressing room with one of Moniuszko’s songs, aerobic exercises with Shostakovich’s Battle Symphony and the memory of recruitment commission’s decision from years ago becomes an impulse for launching  performative, camp variety.

Cezary goes to war is a part of the “Pre-war/War/Post-war” series of Komuna//Warszawa, which is describing the permanent state in which the world is located. Wars can be either armed or psychological, overseas or domestic, international or familiar. The impulse that prompted K//W to work with the war was a series of grim situations from the past few years: the war in Ukraine and the Middle East – Brexit – Trump’s victory. Increasingly, there is an idea that war in Europe may stop being just a history, so we need to ask questions about: Are we prepared for the war? Does the memory of the war make maintaining peace easier? Can war be fair? Do historical policies open up the wounds and are arming society to be ready for fight?

K//W will be talking about war and wars in their various contexts and scenes, but with an emphasis  on their real – nonheroic and personal – dimension. The K//W approach is purely pragmatic – focused on practice and the cost of survive.
