Minding the Gap is skateboarder and filmmaker Bing Liu’s courageous debut documentary. Employing a decade’s worth of skate videos, the film follows Liu and his two friends as they explore the places they grew up in and consider the men they are becoming. An intimate and powerful portrayal of family, friendship, masculinity, domestic violence, and growing up, Minding the Gap works to dismantle stereotypes around skate culture and looks at the lives of its three subjects with immense rawness and vulnerability.
