November 26, 2022, 13:00
Duży Pokój cafe, 3 Malmeda Street

An unusual fusion of an acoustic concert, a historical sketch and a reconstruction of a pre-war recording session!

The meeting will be opened by Marek Jakubowski presenting the characters of John and Alan Lomax, legendary researchers of American folklore, whose sound archives became the foundations of post-war blues and contemporary popular music.

PUHOVSKY will play a song specially prepared for this occasion, and Jędrzej Kubiak, who plays the role of John and Alan Lomax, will record it with his pre-war Presto device. The audience will immediately listen to the finished vinyl record, and anyone willing will be able to personally make a short record (both as performers and sound engineers) to see how tedious and complicated the process of recording sound before the era of tape was.

PUHOVSKY – vocalist, composer, songwriter, DJ, plays dobro guitar, slide, acoustic guitar, bass. The main stylistic trends in which he moves are alternative, indie folk, Delta blues. Jędrzej Kubiak – restorer and operator of vintage vinyl recording machines (including the Presto K-8 machine used in the presentation), promoter of the sound of the black disc, restorer of American jukeboxes, guitarist and lover of American folk music.
