Rafał Grzenia together with Maciej Moskwa from January to April 2013 were travelling across war-torn Syria to collect materials for a book. In subsequent years they travelled to Turkey several times, this time to the refugees living on the borderland. They were collecting people’s stories to understand the mechanisms behind the Syrian rebellion and war

At the meeting, Rafał Grzenia will talk about the revolutionary generation of Arab Spring and its defeat, the birth of Islamic extremism, the beginning of the great migration of refugees to Europe and about the work of a reporter in the in the heat of war. The photos taken by Maciej Moskwa will provide the background for the discussion.

Rafał Grzenia
Born in 1977. Literary critic, writer. At the turn of 2012 and 2013 he travelled to Syria 4 times. In 2014 he visited refugee camps on Turkish-Syrian borderland. He is the author of the book “Sura”.

Maciej Moskwa
Born in 1982. Author of several group and solo exhibitions. With his camera he has visited four continents and returned with pictures published in “Poznaj Świat” and the “Gazeta Wyborcza”. He is the co-author of photographs for the travel guidebook “Wisla-1047 tajemnic”.
