Teatr Biuro Podróży, the creators of the legendary “Carmen Funebre” performance about the cruelty of war, once again deals with the same topic. Utilizing the means of outdoor theatre it tells the story of people, who found themselves in the turmoil of war and all what they have left is to dream about running away. In the context of carnage and cleansing happening daily in the Middle East, which result in mass exodus of people to safer places, Teatr Biuro Podróży tells the story the of fate of refugees. After “Carmen Funebre”, which was inspired by the war in Yugoslavia, it seemed, that in today’s world nothing can get worse. But reality has surpassed the imagination. We are witnessing a phenomenon of an unprecedented scale, which causes anxiety throughout Europe. Do we have anything to fear?

The theatre looks at the situation from the viewpoint of an inhabitant of a besieged city, on which bombs were dropped, a man, who a few years ago could not have thought that he may have become a refugee. Children are heroes of the performance  – the innocent witnesses of the death of loved ones, the victims of exile and starvation. Let’s try for a moment to put ourselves in the role of refugees, for these children and their future peace.
