„To the Heroes of the Ghetto” – The Klezmer Orchestra of the Sejny Theatre

The Klezmer Orchestra of the Sejny Theatre consists of the young people associated with the Borderland of Arts, Cultures, Nations Association. That institution in their educational and artistic work they refer to the multicultural heritage of East Central Europe. The Orchestra was started during the production of S. An-sky’s The Dybbuk in 1996. Since then, the adventure of Sejny youth with klezmer music has been going on. Today it is the next generation – new, younger musicians naturally take over the place of departing older colleagues. The Klezmer Orchestra is also and experience, that sometimes influences the further life choices of its members, Sejny musicians feed the Warsaw music scene, play in the most interesting band, create their own musical initiatives.

Klezmer music can be heard in the Sejny White Synagogue almost every day. Summer concerts gather a wide audience and have already grown into the landscape of local cultural events.

The band consists of: Dominika Korzeniecka – drums, Mateusz Bartosiewicz – drums, Borys Pol – percussion, Tadeusz Soroko – tuba, Michał Jachimowicz – horn, Stanisław Soroko – horn, Mateusz Sznejkowski – trombone, Maciej Soroko – trombone, Patryk Masłowski – trombone, Dominik Sekura – trumpet, Kacper Szroeder – trumpet, Marcin Dąbrowski – trumpet, Michał Popiel – trumpet, Maciej Popiel – saxophone, clarinet, Paweł Jaczewski – saxophone, Maja Misiukanis – saxophone, Janek Głembocki – saxophone, Mikołaj Pol – vibraphone, cimbalom, Michał Moniuszko – double bass, Wojciech Szroeder – accordion.
