In 2019, Tomasz Jakimiuk packed his backpack, grabbed his kick-scooter and set off to Africa. He visited nine countries during four months of travel. His goal was to cross Africa from north to south, from Egypt to South Africa. He was riding a scooter and hitch-hiking, all to be as close to local residents as possible, wanting to know all the beauty and imperfections of the lands he visited. In Egypt, police detained him because of strange allegations. In the Nubian Desert in Sudan, he struggled with a lack of water, and when he got out on the road, he ended up in… a mine. In Ethiopia, he ended up in a brothel because there was no electricity. In Botswana, elephants walked by his tent. It was a journey with many twists and turns that no one could have predicted …

Tomasz Jakimiuk – passionate Podlachian traveller, passionate blogger, enthusiast of reportage photography. Author of a travel book about travelling by hitch-hiking. Winner of many awards. He discovers the world from a scooter and hitch-hiking perspective.
