“America”, the most recent album of Włodek Pawlik Trio, released in 2015. Its concert premiere took place at the concert hall of the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. On the album Pawlik pays homage to his fascination with America in the title piece composed during his first trip to the USA in 1988, yet he doesn’t forget about his Polish identity, hence the inclusion of jazzy renditions of the works by F. Chopin and I.J. Paderewski.

Włodek Pawlik
Pianist and composer. The first Polish jazz musician awarded with the Grammy Award 2014 for his album „Night In Calisia”, recorded along with Randy Brecker and Kalisz Philharmonic Orchestra (Best Large Jazz Ensemble category). He has cut 30 records as a leader to date in many different settings, such as improvised solo piano, jazz groups (Włodek Pawlik Trio, Western Jazz Quartet), crossover projects combining jazz with orchestra, film soundtracks, music for poetry (including Shakespeare’s Sonnets). His nearly two-decade friendship with Randy Brecker has been marked by 3 albums released both in Poland and in the USA (Summit Records). He is a lecturer at F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and he has held clinics, workshops and master classes at many prestigious music colleges, such as Eastman School of Music, Cincinnati College of Music, Western Michigan University and many others

Paweł Pańta
The leading Polish double bass and bass guitar player awarded with the Grammy Award 2014 for the album „Night In Calisia”. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Warsaw in the double bass class, and Zbigniew Wegehaupt’s Jazz College. He used to play for the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester under Claudio Abbado. He cooperated with Philharmonie der Nationen, with which he played over 100 concerts. Pańta is a member of the I Solisti di Varsavia, he works with the leading Polish jazzmen. He performed with Piotr Paleczny, Karol Radziwonowicz, Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Jan Stanienda, and Jadwiga Kotnowska among others. He participated in recordings of many classical, jazz, and pop music albums. He also plays for the Andrzej Kurylewicz Trio, and bands of Janusz Bogacki, Gary Guthman, Wojciech Gogolewski and Filip Wojciechowski. Since 2001 he has been cooperating with the Włodek Pawlik Trio having recorded such albus, as: “Sonety Szekspira”, “Anhelli”, “Tykocin”, “Struny na Ziemi”, “Wieczorem”, “America”, and Grammy awarded “Night in Calisia”.

Cezary Konrad
Drummer, composer and arranger awarded with the Grammy Award 2014 for the album „Night In Calisia”. He has been considered the best Polish jazz drummer by the readers of the “Jazz Forum” magazine since 1992.
