Fashionable East

Fashionable East – fashion is into the East! Bialystok was once one of the largest textile centers in Poland, today it is developing a creative center for fashion and the fashion business. Bialystok designers conquer markets and win prestigious competitions, Bialystok models walk the runways of the world, and Bialystok born photographers work at the sessions for the biggest stars. In 2012, Bialystok Cultural Centre and the Virtual Museum of Fashion and Textiles ITE, with the support of the City of Bialystok and Promotion Department of the Municipal Office in Bialystok, organized Fashionable East – event joining the world of fashion, culture and art. Anna Komorowska, wife of the President of Poland took the honorary patronage over the event. Fashionable East is the first in the north-eastern Poland, artistic and promotional fashion-based event. It emphasizes the presentation of young designers and established artists from the Eastern Partnership countries. Coordinator and initiator of the project, Wojciech Bokłago de Bof , invited the leading Polish fashion designers. The event was a huge success, and Bialystok presented itself as a fashion-friendly, dynamic and full of energy place. 21 designers showcased their collections (including stars such as Maciej Zien, Grazyna Hase, Jola Straw and Mirek Trymbulak or Michal Starost), with the participation of 52 male and female models. Dancers, musicians, artists, representing different fields of creation were starring the event too. During the festival creative workshops, exhibitions, film screenings and concerts took place. It was visited by over a thousand people, including dozens of accredited journalists, photographers and bloggers. Relations from Fashionable East could be seen on following television channels: TVN, Fashion TV Poland, Bialystok TVP and TVN 24. Fashion collections were also showcased at last year’s festival, East Culture/Another Dimension in Bialystok. As part of the Another Dimension: Fashion the audience could see projects of young designers from Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus and Poland. In 2014, Fashionable East will be once again held in Bialystok, at the beginning of August.
