Usta Usta Theatre performance
When daily life becomes complicated and your heart is pounding, longing for a better world, accept an invitation to the Embassy. This mysterious diplomatic mission is a chance to receive asylum for those who feel threatened and want to leave past anguish behind. Its residents are provided with shelter, peace, security and isolation. This is the only opportunity for an ultimate escape from everything.
The nature of the Embassy is secret and unique – it exists unrestricted by daytime, real worlds or even the theatre itself. In order to get there, you need to move around in the virtual environment, locate this website: www.ustausta.pl/embassy and meticulously fill out the form you should find there. Telling the truth is absolutely necessary!
“This is a total spectacle, monstrous, gigantic. In the finale it leaves the spectator with one clear thought: to get released and go back to reality” – Ewa Obrębowska – Piasecka , “Gazeta Wyborcza – Poznan”.
“A Kafkan thriller about seeking asylum outside the oppressive reality. It likens the audience to millions of world immigrants who are fleeing war, famine, but also personal misfortunes. The key to freedom is hidden in the Internet – we have to fill out a visa-like application form. We must confess our most intimate secrets and denounce ourselves”. – Jacek Cieślak, “Rzeczpospolita”
Theatre Usta Usta was founded in 2000. Their projects are usually site-specific experiments. One of the distinguishing features and advantages of this Poznan group , is ” sensitivity of the place ” – having no permanent premises has become an impulse to accustom unusual urban spaces ( basements , underground parking lots , streets, and even virtual space ) to their theatrical needs. Their performances require the viewer’s activity. The development of stage events is the resultant of the actors’ actions and decisions made by the audience on the spot.
20 interactive performances – the first performance starts at 18:00 and the latest at 21:40.
